Luxury vinyl plank

A wood look that works with everyday life.

Start with the way your rooms are used, then compare construction, texture and installation requirements. LVP is a category—not a single performance standard.

Where to start

Living areas, bedrooms, kitchens and property-turn discussions, when the selected product is rated for the space.

Look beyond the surface

Compare wear-layer specifications, finish, attached pad, plank dimensions and the manufacturer’s residential or commercial use rating. A thicker plank alone does not tell you how a floor will wear.

Water-resistant is not moisture-proof

Some products are marketed as waterproof, but seams, perimeter details, underlayment and moisture beneath the floor still matter. Do not use a plank product to cover an unresolved leak or wet slab.

A flat substrate is part of the system

Click-lock and glue-down products have different demands. Existing tile grout lines, humps, cracks, adhesive residue and floor-height changes must be assessed against the selected installation instructions.

Care for the finish

Use a manufacturer-approved cleaner, remove grit and use suitable furniture protection. Avoid steam or soaking unless expressly allowed by the product manufacturer.

A question worth asking

Can LVP go throughout the whole home?

Possibly, but wet areas, stairs, direct sunlight, expansion requirements and adjoining floors need separate review. Choose a product and installation method suitable for each condition.

Before you approve the scope

Confirm product selection, measured quantities, procurement, removal, disposal, furniture, preparation, installation, trim and transitions. Availability, pricing and scheduling are confirmed for your project—not promised by this page.
